Contracts

About contracts
A contract is an agreement that is legally binding and is also signed voluntarily by two or more parties with an obligation which will have elements within the contract that the parties will have to agree to. a contract can be either spoken vocally or as a document.  for example, if I were a programmer or designer (or both) and I received a contract from a company, I would have to complete the work within the tomelimit that is given within the contract, and as promised in the contract the company would then have to pay me.

Non-Disclosure Agreement
A non-Disclosure agreement the same as a contract in the sense that it is an agreement that is made between two or more parties that states that you wil not be able to find out about a project until it is signed. When the contract is signed, the parties who sign the agreement will not be able to tell any individual about the project or any details about it.

Consequences of breaching a contract
If any of the agreement terms within a contract get breached by any party then the contract will become void, meaning that either a new contract will have to be written and signed, or, in most cases, the party that breached the contract will be taken to court and that person will then end up facing a lawsuit form the party that did not break the agreement.

about privacy

Privacy

Privacy is the ability for an individual person or group of people to seclude them or information about from themselves from the rest of the world. The boundaries and the information that would be considered private differs from cultures and individuals however privacy does share the same basic principles. Privacy is sometimes related to anonymity, which is the desire to not be identified or remain unnoticed. When something is considered private to somebody, it usually means that the information that they have is considered personal to them.

Key issues

One of the key issues of privacy is identity theft. Identity theft is when someone steals somebody else’s identity with the intention of stealing money or other benefits in that person’s name. The victim of identity theft can suffer the consequences or the thefts actions. People and organisations can end up with huge losses if their identity was stolen. An example of how your identity could be stolen is, if you go to buy an iPod off of a dodgy looking website, that website will offer to download an application which at the time would make paying for it seem easier. This is actually a fraud and the program downloaded is actually a computer virus that can be used to track keystrokes that you make. This will mean that anything that you type will be sent directly to  the person or ‘company responsible and credit card details can be stolen. Now with your card details stolen the theif can buy or use the credit card information for whatever they like and you will suffer the concequences for their actions.

Another issue of privacy is social networking sites. The reason that this is an issue with privacy is because of the increasing amount of social networking sites, it is easy to become miss lead and then put up information about you. Allot of social networking website such as Facebook, twitter and Google plus, hold very personal and sometimes sensitive information about their users on the website. The reason this is a key issue is because this makes it easy for people to find out about you, for example somebody could go onto Facebook and find out where you live, where you work to, who your family are, what you did yesterday etc., the list goes on the reason this is dangerous is because people can see this information against you so you could potentially be harassed by complete strangers.

Privacy, The Two Main Arguments

There are both rights and wrongs of any argument and privacy is one of those topics that is consistently debated about.

While some people may think that privacy is a bad thing others will think it is a good thing. Privacy can be considered a good thing to have because not everybody wants their information to be shared around. Privacy can be a very good thing as there is sometimes information that you do not want anyone to know about. For example, sometimes if something major has happened in a celebrity’s life, they can pay for an injunction, which is when their privacy will then become, becomes protected by the law. Once a celebrity has an injunction, it will stop the press form publish anything about any incidents that have are remotely related to them.

However some people such as Tabloid newspapers are one example of the kind of people that think that privacy can be a bad thing

. These people think that privacy is a bad thing to have. One reason that n these people think that privacy is bad is because they like to find out what’s been going on in life, mainly other peoples, and for some of these people, it is their job to let the public know what’s going on. The reason is because they believe in freedom of information and the right to know.

A right and a Wrong for each Argument

Every argument has both their rights and wrongs to them. While they are both very valid arguments, they still have their flaws.  For example for the people who think that it is good to keep information private, they are right because everyone has the right to keep any information that they consider private, private. This also protects both themselves and their identity. However the wrongs of this particular argument is that, while it is true that everybody does have the right to keep information private, some celebrities take advantage of this and choose to keep everything private. If they choose to do this they could `use an injunction to try to justify their actions, especially if their actions are morally wrong.

But the argument that privacy is bad for freedom of information also has its rights and wrongs. This argument is right for one thing as freedom of information, especially on the internet, is something that everybody has or should have the right to it.  However this argument also has its wrongs. Having freedom of information does not guarantee that the information that you are receiving is not personal and just because somebody has information doesn’t mean they have to share it with everyone. Sure, everybody has the right to information, but it is the holders choice whether or not they want to share it.

Privacy concerns and freedom of information

The short answer to this is that neither the immediate privacy concerns of individuals nor freedom of information should actually be weighed against each other.  This is because both privacy concerns and freedom of information are weighed delicately between each other. on the one hand, everyone is entitled to their privacy and on the other hand everyone is entitled to freedom of information.

ICO

The Information Commissioners office or ICO is a government ran agency in the form of a website that essentially allows you to receive information about data protection your privacy for public and organisations. If an organisation collects personal data then you are required by law to to register with the agency. Personal data that is collected such as email addresses, names, home addresses, phone numbers ect is all protected by the ruled that are presented on the website.

shaun of the dead website analysis

The website that I am going to be criticising is a website that I created for a film website project. The website is based on the film Shaun of the dead and was created in flash cs4. The main content of the website is stuff such as information, images etc. that are from or about the film

Colours

The colours of this website are dark and gloomy in order to be able to keep within the theme of the film. It has a darkened background which was wallpaper for the film. The main navigation bar consists of items that are mentioned or appear allot within the film.

Images

The images of this website are screenshots from moments form the film. The photo gallery is glitchy and really works properly if you click on some of the pictures. The images appeal to the target audience as they are from parts of the film where there is action and there are some dark is ones aimed at teenagers/ young men.
Integration of social media
There is very little integration of social media on this website as there are only links to Facebook and twitter, which are arguably the most used social networking website at this current time.

Level of interaction
There is a very limited amount of interactivity of this website so after about 2 minutes its target audience will most likely get bored and move on after looking at what the site has to offer.

Content

There is a little amount of content on the actual website as the reviews for the film are actualy hosed on another professional film reviewing websites. However there is a semi interactive photo gallery on the website and the home page has a trailer  for the film.

memebase websie analysis

the website that I am going to be analysing is called Meme base.
This website is aimed at people who are a fan of internet memes which is a culture that has started small but quickly spread all over the internet. Internet memes include Troll face. Rage comics, along with a whole load of others. This website is but of many websites of this type. it is a part of a network f websites known as cheezburguer.

Colours

The colour scheme website Is simple yet colourful in order for it to be attention but so much that it overloads your senses. the colour s of the website are simple yet they give the website its own kind of charm which can be very appealing. There are a few cool colours such as blues and greens to give it a cool feeling to it.
Page load speed
The page load speed of this website is average at best, basically the better your internet connection the faster the loading times. The loading times can be delayed on some pages as it has to load around 10 or more usually high-quality images onto a single page so users with a slow internet connection won’t be able to scroll down using their browser for approximately 3 seconds after first load. load times can vary greatly depending on internet browser and broadband speed.

content

the content of this website largely consists of memes. the website has numerous different subsections, each of which has countless posts that are uploaded by the meme base users. the realy popular ubsections have lots of pages with around 10 poststs for each one. the text used for this websits is small and there isn’t a lot of it as to not bore the audience.

intergaration of social media

Social media integration plays an integral part of this website. all of the posts on this website have an option to
share the post to the popular social networking websites such as Facebook and twitter.an every post you also have the option to email people a link to the post or the actual post itself, embed a link to the post on a website of your own or ‘like the post, which is similar to sharing it except for Facebook will share on your friends newsfeed that you’ve like a posit on memebase and will be posted to your profile.

Advertisements on the website

this website contains a lot of advertisements as it is a amateurish website that’s made by a group of people for fun rather that an professional company, so the creators are going to have to make money from it somehow. The advertisements that come up pnt this website are not actualy releated to the content of the website itself .

SOPA, PIPA and ACTA

SOPA and PIPA
Stop online piracy act (SOPA) along with the Protect Intellectual Property Act (PIPA)  is a bill by the US government that aims to stop online piracy. As they are currently written, they both give copyright holders and the us government the authority to seek court orders out against websites that have copyright infringed content in other country’s is it becomes law it will change the face of the internet and free speech will be meaningless.
ACTA
Anti-counterfeit trade Agreement (Act) is an international trade agreement that is being negotiated by the EU, US, japan, Canada along with a long list of other countries. The aim is to enforce copyright and tackle counterfeited goods. The main reason this so called treaty has only just come up in the news is because all of the negotiations were done in secret from the public and civil organisations. ACTA aims to make Internet service providers such as BT, Sky, etc. legally responsible for what their users do online, turning them into internet police by censoring their networks. This will mean that free speech on the internet will completely disappear; with ISP scanning for keywords such as Downloads etc. it would give large operations the power to stop generic drugs before they got to the people that need them. The entertainment industry knows that topping file sharing is impossible without destroying the web. But they can use ‘piracy to maintain control over what distributed over the internet

IP and Privacy: copyright and moral rights

Ip and privacy blog entry
About copyright
The copy right law gives the owner the rights to the creation of a song film game character etc., and stops others from using it without permission. Once you have created something, for example the lyrics for a song of a video game character then you will automatically have the copyright rights to it. You will able to claim copyright officially as long as you are able to provide physical evidence that you were the first person to come up with it.
Copyright your three moral rights
The first, moral right of the copy right law is that the creator of a cartoon or videogame character is able to claim copyright of that character or concept.  For example my character, Keiyou, whom i am using in my game for android/ iphone , i will own the rights to automatically as it is my creation. if i am able to give physical evidence for coming uo with that character first  then  i will be able to  claim the actual rights to it so then no one will be able to steal my idea as that would infringe on my rights for it.
The second moral right of the copyright law is that a character or concept cannot be edited or changed without consent of the owner. For example if someone took my character and then gave him huge feet or tried to change the colour of it without  asking me if i was okay with the design changes then it would be another infringement of my copyrights that i have.
The third moral right is misdistribution meaning that you can’t draw something really bad or wrong and then claimed the owner did it. For example if Adam were render in maya my character but really badly or gave him, shall we say, inappropriate features  then claimed that that it was my fault and i got into trouble for it (in college or for other reasons) it would be another infringement of my copyright rights.

How copyright affect you and your work with interactive media
Copyright can affect my work within the interactive media course in number of different ways. firstly way it can affect my work is when writing essays, which seem to creep up everywhere within a level 3 course, i would have to reference (Harvard reference is one that’s needed allot everything that i use as an example or whatever i am writing about. Another way copyright can affect my work is when making games ir websites. These two things are the ones that are most affected by copyright as you have to make original material, especially for games as games can be re-skinned and copied in anyway which can be unfair on the owners of the original versions of the game.

Marketing trends part 2

Marketing trends for social media 2012
Lots and lots of companies use social networking websites such as Facebook to advertise their products to their target consumers. Advertising, on one of the most used website next to Google and YouTube, is the best way anyone can go about advertising their products.  As advertising on Facebook goes, it is so popular it even has its own advertising platform that allows companies to reach their target audience/consumer. Facebook’s advertising platform allows you to place small display type advertisements within the right-hand sidebar of Facebook pages and profiles.
Advertising on Facebook 2011
One example of how the Facebook advertising platform is used is whenFacebook users see a like page for dr pepper will see a link to the page. If they are interested they will click on the link and go to the dr pepper Facebook page. From here they can now click the ‘like button. From here , other users who search ‘soft  drinks’ using the search bar, dr pepper will be within the top 5 searches. Using the Facebook advertisement platform method gives company’s a precise insight on what a particular person is into and then advertisesappropriately.
Advertising on Facebook in 2012
Advertising on Facebook is not as simple as it was back in 2011 although it is still just as effective. Now when a Facebook user likes something, For example elder scrolls skyrim, Facebook will then advertise these friends of the person who liked it in their newsfeed. This type of advertising is known as word to mouth advertising. Word to mouth advertising is seen as possibly one of the best ways to advertise as someone is much more likely to buy a product if it is recommended to them by their friends first rather than advertisers liking it themselves.
The current marketing tren now is that companies don’t want you to just click the like button anymore. Now advertisers want you to leave feedback on their products or leave questions about it for other people to answer them leaving them with recommendations and experience.  Doing this then allows for customers to sort out other customers problems for them, thus saving them money.
For example on the dr pepper Facebook page, customers can write on the wall of it leaving questions about the product, pieces. When they do this other customers can then like or comment on the post answering their initial questions .this is a helpful way of answering questions for the company for them and can recommend solutions for problems.

Marketing trends for 2012

In this report I am going to be giving multiple examples of how the market trends are changing in the interactive industry and how they were like in the past. To show how trends are changing I will be using multiple examples gained from research over the internet. I will be discussing topics sich as augmented reality apps, html 5, and other factors that ae changing trends.
What are the strongest emerging markets for interactive technology?
Throughout the past year and the following year still yet to come, there have been countless emerging markets in the interactive industries for phones, mobile applications videogames, websites and general technology alike.
Augmented reality
Augmented reality has seen a huge surge in popularity over the past few years and is used on countless, usually mobile devices in the form if applications. Devises include apps for iPhone, android, blackberry etc., and even non-gaming devices such asthe Nintendo 3ds, the user gets  free app that you get with the console which uses augmented reality.

IPhone apps that currently use augmented reality:
·         Golf range finder
·         Gps compass apps for hiking
·         Sightseeing and travel guide apps

How is interactivity changing the way producers and consumers relate to each other?

Interactivity is still changing the way that producers and consumers relate to each other.  Technology over the years has involved to the point where it has become incredibly easy for producers to market specific range of items to their consumers. For example, if your were to search for say “IPod touch” then a tracking cookie will be downloaded to your computer and then sent back to the producer. The information gained from the tracking cookie helps producer’s market items to one specific person
How are mobile technologies changing the face of the market?
Mobile technologies are changing the face of the market. For example more and more mobile devices are gaining more advances abilities over their predecessors. Thanks to more open source phone operating systems, it has become easier and easier to create applications or apps that will work on all ‘smart phones’. This changes the face of the market because more and more freelance or small time app and game developers can get their creations onto those systems, which then broadens their market base loads. Say for example angry birds, a puzzle video game developed for the Ios in 2009, would not have been able to take off and be as big of a hit as it is now without the presence a multitude of aps that were only recently starting to rise to popularity.
How are mobile os platforms expected to change.
Mobile os’s are expected to change over the next year as android blackberry ios and windows are now beginning to dominate mobile phone sales as smart phones are getting more and more popular. Symbian phones which were popular for a very long time are no longer being advertised as it is now much more worth it to get a smart phone as they are capable of doing a lot more than they are. Apps, phone applications that range from games to gps devices, are among the most popular of the features used on smart phones and have even made an entire new market from them as early as 2009 when the first apps started to appear. In 2011 there was easily over a million apps including games and such and over 2012 we can expect loads more to come. Apps have also made it easier for standalone or small-time developers to make apps and get a business up and running, which adds to the already huge collection of apps that are available on the multitude if phone networks and Smartphone brands
