About Creative Commons
Creative Commons (cc) is a non-profit organisation that is headquartered in Mountain View, California, United States which is devoted to expanding the range of creative works available for others to build upon legally and also to share. The organisation has released Creative Commons Licences free of charge to the public. These licenses allow creators to communicate which rights they want for the benefit of recipients or creators there is also an easy to understand one page explanation of rights with associated visual symbols that explains the specifics of each creative commons licence. These licences don’t replace copyright, but are actually based upon it. The website Wikipedia.org uses one of these licences
